Carnival Museum

The Carnival Museum, housed in the modern structure of the Cittadella del Carnevale in Viareggio, is the largest space in Italy dedicated to this cultural and popular tradition. In this place you can find the hangars where the wagons are built and kept, the tanker's workshops, the Museum and a Historical Documentation Center.

Archaeological Museum of the Garfagnana territory

The Archaeological Museum of the Garfagnana Territory is located inside the thirteenth-century fortress of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, now known as Rocca Ariostesca for having hosted for some years, from 1522 to 1525, the poet and writer Ludovico Ariosto as Governor of the Garfagnana.

Over the centuries, the fortress has been subject to changes and additions. During the Second World War it suffered extensive of damage and its current appearance is due to the subsequent restoration work.

Old Mint Museum of Lucca

The Museum of the Old Mint of Lucca is located in the Casermetta San Donato, on the city walls and testifies to the activity of the Mint of Lucca, the oldest and most long-lived in Europe, which minted coins from the time of the Lombards to Carlo Lodovico of Bourbon (from 650 to 1843).

Italian Museum of Folklore Imaginary

The Italian Museum of Folklore Imaginary, inaugurated in 2019, was born thanks to the Documentation Center of the Oral Tradition in Piazza al Serchio.

The Documentation Center, coordinated for years by prof. Alberto Borghini of the Polytechnic of Turin, has collected and recorded thousands of unpublished stories of the Italian oral tradition (including fairy tales, legends and popular beliefs), in order to preserve their memory for future generations.

Father Eugenio Barsanti Museum

The Padre Eugenio Barsanti Museum is located on the first floor of Palazzo Panichi, a historic building in the central square of the city of Pietrasanta, built in the 15th century.

The museum collection gathers the personal objects, relics and documents that belonged to Father Eugenio Barsanti who invented, together with Felice Matteucci, the internal combustion engine.

Birthplace of Giosue Carducci

The birthplace of the poet Giosue Carducci is located a few kilometers from Pietrasanta, in the hamlet of Valdicastello, in the valley bathed by the Baccatoio river and squeezed between Monte Lieto and Monte Gabberi.

His father Michele, originally from Pietrasanta, who became the doctor of the Valdicastello mines, moved to the small village of Valdicastello to give medical assistance to the miners and their families.

Versilian Archaeological Museum Bruno Antonucci

The Versilian Archaeological Museum Bruno Antonucci, is located in the municipality of Pietrasanta.

The museum collection is the result of the search for archaeological finds by the Versilian Speleological and Archaeological Group, led by Professor Bruno Antonucci. The artefacts found tell the story of Versilia from Prehistory to the Middle Ages.
